Ha Da is a long-time Mongolian democracy activist. The publications he has authored encourage Mongolians to stand up for the rights guaranteed to them in the Chinese Constitution and describe abuses that have occurred under Chinese rule. He received a particularly harsh sentence when he was arrested for taking a leading role in organizing a demonstration and teacher's strike in 1995. His wife and son were also adversely affected by his situation. They couldn’t find employment and suffered harassment from the police.
